They're working on an amazing geared hub motor with a freewheel in production for the end of the year. It's an incredibly elegant design. I have a bbshd on my hp speedmachine. No torque sensing , but it has a throttle and cadence PAS. I prefer the throttle when many gear changes are needed, because it allows me to change gears without putting too much torque through the drive chain during shifting. Your legs become a good torque sensor to check you're in a good gear, before putting power through the motor. Which is good for efficiency and durability. Using cadence PAS on long continuous stretches, the break sensor can be lightly actuated to disable the motor during gear changes. This is better than using an in line gear sensor because I often need to take up the slack in the front chain ring freewheel, as well as engage the pawls in the hub firmly, before putting the full torture through the system. There's open source firmware which allows you to remove the cadence modulated power drop off and speed limit. Accurate wheel diameter including tyres to get accurate speed too. Vasta ihan kohdalla tajusin, että se oli velomobiili (en sillon vielä tiennyt että tällaisia pyöriä on olemassa) ja siellä oli joku ihminen sisällä ja se oli liikkeessä. Tämän virhearvion tajuaminen oli minulle aika järkyttävä kokemus, kun oikeasti en tajunnut sen olevan jonkunlainen kulkuväline, vaan matala profiili ja suoraan takaa katsottuna näytti minulle siinä valaistuksessa ja tilanteessa joltain ihan muulta. Siinä ei ollut valoja eikä heijastimia, niinkuin näissä moderneissa versioissa on. Kannattaa ehdottomasti panostaa kaikenlaisiin valoihin ja heijastimiin ja jos vaan pysyy, niin vaikka lippuun tms, joka auttaa autoilijoita tajuamaan, että kyseessä on kulkuväline.

Everything about these vehicles is awesome except that in my pickup, a stock Chevrolet, I probably will never see what I just ran over. If one is beside me, I’d have to stick my head out the window and look down. Passenger side, I would never know a velomobile was over there. Looking in the rear view mirror, if it’s pretty close, the tailgate would hide it. No thanks, although having a composite coffin would be cool.😮

This video was extremely helpful. I found my lights on Ebay. Lighthouse-Leds... 1 Watt Yellow Gold Star Ultra Bright Wide Angle High Power 5/ $10 + shipping. Came in 3-4 days. They look perfect. I wired it up and made a little life-saver sized donut of DAP sealant and pressed it into place then slapped a 2x2" piece of duct tape over it and it hasn't moved since. One suggestion... Tape printer paper over the velcro to keep it from gripping while you slip the rear chain guard into place, them pull the paper out. It lands exactly where it should the first time. Reuse the paper for the front chain guard too. This fix took me about 5 hours to complete, but was worth it. Look for other problems while you are in there and take photos for future reference. I found a loose seat bolt rattling around under the seat, wondered where that rattle was coming from! Thank you!

I rode a Quest and a Rotovelo in New Zealand. Velomobiles are a lot faster than road bikes on the flat so while a small motor wont engage at those speeds it would engage on hill climbs. Thus I think it would be worth having because climbing hills opens up new rides allowing greater enjoyment of your velomobile.

When you really try to save the planet, stay fit so you don’t burden the state’s health care system and realise that they really love their cars more than people. Here in the UK this is obvious by travelling around suburbia on a sunny Sunday afternoon. The masses will be out worshipping their god by washing and waxing it to death.

To finalise my order can you comment on the following questions: on the flat do you ever run out of gears with a 70T front blade? What is difference to the speeds that can be reached with 60T vs 70T?
